Commercialization of Human Relationships in the novels of Chetan Bhagat : An Analysis
Abstract
India has deep historical moorings. It is impossible to be astonished by India. Nowhere on earth does humanity present itself in such a dazzling, creative burst of cultures and religions, races and tongues. It was enriched by successive waves of migration and marauders from distant lands, every one of them left an indelible imprint which was absorbed into the Indian way of life. Every aspect of the country presents itself on a massive, exaggerated scale, comparable only to the superlative mountains that overshadow it. People of this civilization with ancient heritage have always had a great faith in relationships. Lots of examples can be found in the history and mythology of this land, which show that relationships have always been held sacred by Indians. They are attached to their customs and traditions in a very deep-rooted manner. When Mark Twain, a renowned American writer, visited India over a hundred years ago, he recognized India’s greatness saying, India is, the cradle of human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only. Romain Rolland, a French scholar, also observes, If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, It is India.
